I agree completely, SEO is the most important factor in online advertising now. more and more people are learning to ignore banner advertising, and a simple Google search is how the world finds its information, so getting up there is very important.

Another powerful factor in advertising I think is social networking. Those who take advantage of word of mouth through thigns like Twitter are flourishing right now.

Achieving top rankings by simple pure whitehat SEO may not be enough at times. If you want to best your competition, the way to go would most probably be to take up the services of a professional SEO company or follow up on some Blackhat techniques. Achieving search results on the first few pages highly influences your traffic that you receive.

“Traditional advertising is no longer effective” that is a powerful statement… which I don’t think I agree with, but I do agree that we need good SEO as people are turning to buy more and more from the web.
