Unless the features offered by Bing are radically different from that of Google, it will be difficult to change a consumer habit. Sure, there is no cost to switch, but ‘Googling’ has become a common term for “search”.
Google still has most of the market share and in a way, combining the two lesser search engines actually will save SEO types time and effort in the long run, since they are not dealing with rankings on two different engines with different algorithms. If you use Yahoo Site Explorer or other tools on a regular basis, you might want to consider finding alternatives – with Bing taking over, these may not be available for long.
First, Microsoft is marketing Bing as a “decision engine,” the search functions brings more relevant results and organizes them in a more meaningful way. Bing offers tabs for different kinds of searches similar to Google and including “images,” “videos,” “maps” and “shopping.” Bing, allegedly organizes search result so you can quickly and easily locate the content that matters most to you. Bing claims to be the first of its kind decision engine helping you harness information through exclusive tools specifice to your key tasks, leading to more informed decisions.
I for one, Google. It will take significant “deprogramming” to Bing.
